Power engineers of MREK JSC noted that in order to build and put into operation a new substation, it was necessary to install a new 110 kV overhead line with a length of 6 km. As part of the implementation of the approved investment program, the cost of the project amounted to more than 2 billion tenge. Today, the Mangystau region is an actively developing region: new residential complexes, social facilities, commercial buildings are being commissioned, and the number of small and medium-sized businesses is growing. With the development of a tourist hub on the coast of the Caspian Sea, energy consumption in the region is growing significantly.

The substation has modern equipment that meets advanced international standards. According to the project, there are 25 MVA power transformers and 10 kV switchgear cells with a block-modular building. The project also provides for the winding of a fiber-optic cable onto a wire to ensure data transmission, monitoring and control systems for the substation with output to the control panel of MREK JSC.

In addition, to increase reliability, power engineers reconstructed the existing double-circuit 10 kV overhead line with reconnection to a 110/10 kV substation. The implementation of the above measures will make it possible to divide the 10 kV overhead line into three sections, which will subsequently make it possible to reduce the length. The work carried out will make it possible to connect new facilities.

The Yuzhnaya substation PS-110/10 kV will increase the power supply capacity of new territories, creating the groundwork for their development for years to come. In the coming years, an increase in electricity consumption is expected in the “Warm Beach” area of Aktau, and the need for new capacities is predicted, which is associated with the construction of new tourist facilities. The Rixos Aktau hotel complex, the TETYS BLU theme park, the golf club, and the AQUALINA RESORT multifunctional hotel and tourist complex under construction will also be connected to the power supply.

– To date, the construction and installation work of the 110/10 kV Yuzhnaya substation has been completed. This is the result of coordinated professional work of the entire team. We have fulfilled the task of the authorities of the Mangistau region - to move at a faster pace in relation to the development of the regional economy, in particular tourism. Additional capacity will entail new prospects for the development of small and medium-sized businesses,” said Zhaksylyk Sagymbekov, Deputy Chairman of the Board for Operations of MREK JSC.

Also this year, energy workers at MREK JSC completed the construction of a double-circuit overhead power transmission line. Three kilometers north and 7.3 kilometers south to the Alau recreation center. During the work, 256 supports were installed. For the safety of birds, modern protective devices have been installed on overhead lines.

Over the past five years, the increase in the capacity of power transformers at substations of MREK JSC amounted to 31 percent. In order to meet the growing consumer demand for electricity, to ensure the possibility of connecting residential and industrial facilities under construction in the Mangistau region to the electrical networks, the energy sector of Mangistau Regional Electric Grid Company JSC is intensively replacing power transformers with equipment of higher power.

Let us remind you that on November 12, 2019, in order to develop tourism in the Mangistau region, a memorandum of cooperation was concluded between MREK JSC and the regional akimat. As part of the memorandum, MREK JSC successfully completed the construction of a 10 kV power transmission line (double-circuit overhead power line) with a length of 10.5 km with the replacement of 1x2.5 MVA power transformers with 2x16 MVA at the Baza Otdykha substation in the Warm Beach area to hotel complex "Rixos Aktau".
